Georg Graf (lawyer)

Georg Graf (born April 15, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer .

Life

After graduating from the Schottengymnasium , he studied law at the University of Vienna ( Dr. iur. 1985) and philosophy at the University of Chicago (MA 1986). 1986/1987 he was assistant to Helmut Koziol . From 1988 he was assistant to Theo Mayer-Maly . In 1990/1991 he did research in Chicago for half a year . Since 1989 he has been a lecturer in civil law at the University of Salzburg . After his habilitation in 1994 for the subjects civil law, legal philosophy and legal theory with the thesis contract and reason , he was appointed university professor for civil law at the Institute for Austrian and European Private Law at the University of Salzburg in 2001.

His research focuses on all areas of civil law, in particular banking and capital market law, credit security law, consumer protection law, contract law, enrichment law, damage compensation law, inheritance law, restitution and reparation after 1945 for asset stealings during the Nazi era (activity as a permanent expert for the historians' commission of the Republic of Austria ) and legal philosophical and legal theoretical problems of private law, especially questions of method.
