Georg Heinrich Ludolf Grube (born May 6, 1883 in Göttingen ; † August 31, 1966 in Stuttgart ) was a German chemist ( electrochemistry , metallurgy ). He was professor for physical chemistry at the TH Stuttgart.

Live and act

Grube received his doctorate from Gustav Tammann in Göttingen in 1906 with a dissertation on magnesium alloys. He then worked in industry and completed his habilitation in 1913 at the TH Dresden with Fritz Foerster . In the same year he became an associate professor for physical chemistry and electrochemistry at the TH Stuttgart. When the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Metal Research was founded in Stuttgart in 1934, he became co-director. In 1951 he retired.

He dealt with electrochemistry and metallurgy, including electrochemical conductivity measurements and susceptibility measurements, sintering, surface refinement, diffusion processes, surface refinement of metals and passivity of metals.

From 1934 to 1953 he was director of the Institute for Physical Chemistry at the TH Stuttgart.

In 1948 he received the Bunsen medal . From 1932 to 1945 he was editor of the magazine for electrochemistry.

He was the father of the historian Walter Grube .
