Georg Heigl

Georg Heigl (* 1931 or 1932 ; † February 18, 2006 in Gilching ) was a German football official .

Career

After a football career in the lower-class league area, Heigl got involved in association work. From 1976 he was treasurer and thus a member of the executive committee of the Bavarian Football Association , a year later he also moved up to the control committee of the DFB . In 1993 he was elected President of the South German Football Association and thus to the board of the DFB. From 1998 he gradually gave up his offices, initially after a match against Günther Lommer he was no longer treasurer of the Bavarian Football Association, in the following year Rolf Hocke was his successor at the head of the South German Football Association. In 2001 he finally resigned from the DFB.

The individual associations honored Heigl for his commitment: Among other things, he received honorary membership of the DFB and the honorary presidency of the South German Football Association.

Heigl died in February 2006 at the age of 74, he was buried in the Gilching district of Argelsried .
