Life

Georg Heinrich Bose was the second son of the Leipzig trade and councilor Caspar Bose . Together with his brother Caspar Bose d. J. (1672-1730), which was founded by her grandfather Johann Ernst Bose (1612-1681) electoral privileged Silberwaren- factory . Gold and silver wire was made in it. To trimmings processed, the trade secured with these family prosperity and membership in the Leipzig patricians .

In 1710 Georg Heinrich Bose bought a house at Thomaskirchhof , which he had rebuilt in the Baroque style and equipped with the conveniences of the time. The house was right next to the Thomas School , where Johann Sebastian Bach lived and taught from 1723 . Both families became good neighbors, and Bach often stayed in Bose's house.

In 1706 Georg Heinrich Bose married Eva Sybilla Bachmaier († 1741), the daughter of the Danish consul Matthias Bachmaier, in Hamburg. He had eleven children with her, two of whom died early. The acquaintance with the Bach family led to the fact that four Bosesche daughters became godmothers of four Bach daughters and Bach also wrote compositions for celebrations in the Bosesche family.

This connection was remembered when, in the second half of the 20th century, a search was made for the most authentic site for a Leipzig Bach Museum, because the old Thomas School had been demolished in 1902. The Bach researcher Werner Neumann pointed out the importance of the Bose House for Bach and suggested the museum design of the house. The house was reconstructed and set up for use as a museum. On March 21, 1985, the Bach Museum was opened for the 300th birthday of Bach . The house was now the after Georg Heinrich Bose Bose House called.
