Georg Heinrich Röpe

Georg Heinrich Röpe (born December 2, 1836 in Hamburg , † December 15, 1896 ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and theologian.

After visiting the Johanneum , Röpe went to the University of Göttingen at Easter 1855 and began studying theology . During his studies he was a member of the 1855 Schwarzenburg Bund - connection Burschenschaft Germania Göttingen , then still in Wingolf . A year later, Röpe moved to the University of Erlangen . After he returned to Hamburg in August 1858, he first took the education examination in November and the theological examination in June 1859. In 1859 he became an assistant teacher at the Johanneum Realschule, and on January 29, 1864, he became a deacon at St. Jacobi. In 1866 he married Clara Adele Mutzenbecher . On May 20, 1883 he was elected chief pastor at St. Jacobi and on June 29, 1883 he was introduced to the office.

On December 20, 1888, he became Dr. theol. hc from the University of Göttingen . He was chairman of the Gustav-Adolf-Verein , the Verein für Innere Mission and the Rauhen Haus in Hamburg.

Georg Heinrich Röpe is commemorated on the double collecting grave plate, main pastors to St. Jacobi / pastors to St. Jacobi of the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery, Ohlsdorf Cemetery .
