history

The school building of the Georg Heinsius von Mayenburg primary school was built between 1910 and 1915 according to the most modern standards at the time, and school operations began in 1915. During the GDR era, the building housed the "Franz Mehring" Polytechnic High School (POS) , which was closed in 2001. The school building belongs to the city of Senftenberg and, like the entire settlement, has been a listed building since 1985 .

The Georg Heinsius von Mayenburg primary school is a "building block" of the "Schlausitz" of the Lausitz educational institution. The overall concept of Schlausitz consists of a day care center, kindergarten, six-year elementary school, (a planned) secondary school and a further education academy for parents and teachers.

With the 2011/2012 school year, school operations were expanded to include the former “Kaiserkrone” cultural center opposite the current school building. The historic hall and the concert garden will be opened for public and private events after the renovation and renovation work has been completed.
