Mirja Puhakka

Mirja Annele Puhakka (born April 30, 1955 in Sippola ) is a former Finnish ski orienteer .

Puhakka won three gold and three silver medals at the three World Orienteering Championships in 1980, 1982 and 1984. In 1980 she became double world champion in singles and with Kaija Silvennoinen and Sinikka Kukkonen in the relay. In 1982 in Austria she was second in both competitions, in 1984 in Lavarone, Italy, she won again in the singles and took silver with the relay. At the 1986 World Cup, she was 13th in the singles and fourth in the relay.

Puhakka, who started for the club Sippurasti from Anjalankoski , won five Finnish individual championships and one championship with the relay. She also won the first Venla relay race in the summer orienteering race with the club in 1978 .
