Georg Herold (caster, 1590)

Georg Herold (baptized on September 12, 1590 in Nuremberg ; buried on October 17, 1632 there ) was a German redsmith , piece and bell founder .

Herold was born the son of Balthasar Herold. His brother was Wolf Jacob Herold . Georg married Katherina on September 8, 1619 (baptized November 25, 1595; buried June 27, 1660 in the former grave in 1336 at the Johannisfriedhof ), daughter of Hieronymus Oertel. They had six sons together ( Balthasar II , Hans Georg , Andreas , Johannes , Wolfgang Hieronymus and Achatius).

In 1624 he took over the foundry at the Frauentor from his father. Bells from him are still preserved in Bohemia, Middle Franconia, Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate.

His widow Katharina married Leonhard Löw in 1634 . He ran his foundry from 1634 to 1653 and trained his sons.
