Georg Hiller (politician)

Georg Hiller (born August 18, 1946 in Öllingen ) is a German local politician . He was mayor of Blaubeuren (Baden-Württemberg) for 24 years .

Live and act

Hiller completed his studies at a university of applied sciences with a degree in administrative management . From 1963 to 1978 he worked in local government. In 1978 he was elected mayor of Blaubeuren. In 2002 he did not stand for election due to age. From 1979 to 2004 he was also a district councilor in the Alb-Donau district .

Since 2003 he has been the state manager of the Free Voters in Baden-Württemberg .

During his tenure as mayor, he campaigned for the research and presentation of the prehistory of Blaubeuren and the Swabian Alb . From 2004 to 2020 he was chairman of the Society for Prehistory and the Friends of the Prehistory Museum Blaubeuren . He is the managing director of the Prehistoric Museum Blaubeuren .

In 2016 he emerged as the author and editor of a non-fiction book on Ice Age art in Baden-Württemberg. One of his concerns was to bring the caves of the oldest ice age art and the associated landscape of the Swabian Alb more into the public eye.
