Georg Huber (Mayor, 1557)

Georg Huber (born July 17, 1557 in St. Gallen ; † August 29, 1642 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Georg Huber was the son of his father of the same name, Georg Huber (1535–1605) and his wife Elisabeth (1536–1599), daughter of Leonhard Keller (1511–1577).

He was a member of the weavers' guild, held various public functions in St. Gallen from 1594 and alternated between 1613 and 1639 with Joachim Reutlinger (until 1620), Joachim Zollikofer (elected 1613), Ambrosius Schlumpf (elected 1620), Lorenz Steiger ( elected in 1625), Sebastian Schobinger (elected in 1632), Kaspar Friedrich (elected in 1636) and Hans Hildbrand (elected in 1638) hold the three highest city offices, former mayor , imperial bailiff and mayor every three years.

Georg Huber was first married to Barbara Göz from 1579, and from 1595 was second to Marie, daughter of the guild master Hans Locher; of their children is known by name:

  • Johannes Huber (born April 4, 1596 in St. Gallen; † August 25, 1635 there), married to Maria (1599–1635), daughter of Felix Züblin (1573–1631)

From 1636 he was married to Ursula Engelhardt for the third time.
