Ambrosius Schlumpf (politician, 1573)

Ambrosius Schlumpf (born November 9, 1573 in St. Gallen ; † November 29, 1635 ibid) was a Swiss politician and mayor of St. Gallen (Switzerland).

Life

Ambrosius Schlumpf was the son of David Schlumpf, Elfer, and his wife Katharina (* 1533 in St. Gallen; † unknown), daughter of Joachim Haltmayer. His grandfather was the St. Gallen mayor of the same name, Ambrosius Schlumpf .

From 1615 to 1620 he was the guild master of the weavers' guild, and from 1618 to 1620 he held the office of sub-mayor.

From 1620 to 1635 he alternated with Georg Huber , Joachim Zollikofer , Lorenz Steiger (elected 1625) and Sebastian Schobinger (elected 1632) every three years as mayor , former mayor and imperial bailiff . He also took part as envoy in the Diet from September 29, 1620 to October 13, 1620 in Baden .

Ambrosius Schlumpf was first married to Anna, daughter of Heinrich Kaiser, from 1597. The names of her children are known:

  • Anna Schlumpf (* 1600; † 1642), married to Jakob Züblin (1596–1655).

From 1629 he was married to Weibratha, daughter of Kaspar Scherrer, Elfer, for the second time.
