Georg Jenal

Georg Jenal (born December 16, 1942 in Lebach ) is a German historian .

Life

Georg Jenal received his doctorate in 1973 from the University of Saarland with a thesis on Anno II of Cologne , supervised by Friedrich Prinz . He completed his habilitation in 1989 at the University of Munich with a two-volume work on asceticism and monasticism from the beginnings to the time of the Lombards in the 7th century. From 1996 until his retirement in 2008 , he taught as professor for the history of the Middle Ages at the University of Cologne .
