Georg Ludwig (* 16th April 1967 in Neunkirchen (Saar) ) is a German political scientist , politician of the CDU and Mayor of the municipality Lindlar .

education

Georg Ludwig attended elementary school in the Stadtpark in Neunkirchen from 1973 to 1977 , and then went to the state grammar school in Neunkirchen, where he obtained the general university entrance qualification in 1986 . From 1986 to 1987 he did his military service. From 1987 he studied business administration, political science, history and oriental studies at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken . In 1994 he graduated with a Magister Artium with "Very Good".

From 1991 to 1994 he was a scholarship holder of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's young journalistic support . In 1994 he began a doctoral degree in political science at the Faculty of Law and Economics at Saarland University. In 1997 he received his doctorate in political science under Jürgen Domes on the subject of "Military, Islamism and Democracy in Algeria (1978 to 1995)" with magna cum laude . The work was published in 1998 by Deutsches Universitätsverlag with a preface by Jürgen Domes.

Georg Ludwig was a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science at Saarland University from 1994 to 1996 . From 1996 to 1999 he acted as personal advisor to the state and parliamentary group chairman of the Saarland CDU, Peter Müller .

From 1999 to 2002 he worked as a manager at a consulting company in Düsseldorf. He then worked as a freelance journalist. From 2003 he was head of domestic work and communication at the Karl Kübel Foundation for Children and Family in Bensheim.

Ludwig joined the CDU as a member in 1996. On April 22, 2012, he was elected mayor of the municipality of Lindlar as the successor to Hermann-Josef Tebroke , who became district administrator of the Rheinisch-Bergisch district from January 2012 . Ludwig received 56.7 percent of the valid votes cast. His competitor was Lutz Freiberg, who had been put up as a candidate jointly by the SPD, Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and FDP. On March 4, 2018, he was re-elected mayor. He received 53.54 percent of the valid votes cast. His competitors Marco Mann (SPD / Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen) and Steffen Mielke (FDP) received 40.63 percent and 5.83 percent, respectively. The turnout was 47.42 percent. He was elected with an absolute majority without another runoff election.

Georg Ludwig is married and has two school-age children. He has lived in Lindlar since 2001.
