Georg Friedrich Mappes (born July 24, 1900 in Karlsruhe , † May 6, 1984 in Bühl ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and SA leader.

Live and act

After attending secondary school , Mappes earned his living as a businessman. In this job he most recently took on the role of branch manager of a large machine factory. From March 1918 Mappes took part in the First World War with the field artillery regiment 30 .

In 1930 Mappes joined the NSDAP. He also became a member of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the military arm of the Nazi movement. In the years that followed, up to the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in the spring of 1933, Mappes mainly took on tasks as a squadron leader in the SA.

In the SA he was transferred to the staff of the Supreme SA leadership in December 1934 as head of administration and acting Reich treasurer of the SA . On March 29, 1936, he ran unsuccessfully in the Reichstag election.

In April 1936 he was finally appointed (first) Reich Treasurer of the SA. On November 1, 1937, Mappes became head of the main administration office of the Supreme SA leadership. Almost three years later, in October 1940, he reached the nominal climax of his SA career when he was promoted to SA Obergruppenführer.

In November 1940, Mappes became a member of the National Socialist Reichstag , to which he was a member until the end of the Nazi regime in spring 1945, in the replacement procedure for Erich Boetel, who had fallen in the war .

After the war, Mappes, who had held the NSDAP's Golden Decoration of Honor since January 30, 1939, lived in Baden-Baden. There he married on December 20, 1949.
