Georg Mark

Georg Mark (* in the 20th century in Salzburg ) is an Austrian conductor and university professor.

Life

Mark studied conducting and violin at the Vienna Conservatory and musicology, philosophy and psychology at the University of Vienna .

Mark worked with various orchestras around the world, in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland and Lithuania, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Venezuela. From 1991 to 2006 Mark was Principal Guest Conductor of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra .

In addition to his preoccupation with Russian music (focus on Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich ), works by Joseph Haydn , Mozart , Ludwig van Beethoven , Franz Schubert , Johannes Brahms , Anton Bruckner , Gustav Mahler and Alban Berg as well as compositions by Johann Strauss play a central role in his repertoire .

Mark leads the conducting class at the Vienna Conservatory and attaches particular importance to new developments in modern performance practice and their implementation within the framework of Viennese tradition.
