Georg Monsch
Georg Monsch (born August 26, 1847 in Offenburg ; † February 23, 1934 ) was a Baden politician of the SPD.
Monsch was born the son of a master butcher. After years of apprenticeship and traveling , he took over the restaurant "Rheinischer Hof". In 1888 he took on his first political mandate in the local council. He administered his city council office with diligence and commitment to his hometown. He took care of the social institutions with great understanding. From 1909 to 1913 he was also a member of the Baden state parliament in Karlsruhe .
On the occasion of his 40th anniversary in the city council, he was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Offenburg in 1928 .
His hometown also honored him by naming the largest elementary, secondary and technical secondary school.
A prize is also given annually to the best secondary school students in the city's final classes, the "Monsch clock".
