Georg Obrecht

Georg Obrecht (born March 25, 1547 in Strasbourg , † June 7, 1612 ibid) was a German camerawoman and professor of law. In 1604 he was ennobled for the first time by the emperor, since then by Obrecht ; 1609 elevation to the state count palatine .

Life

He was born the son of the City Counsel of Strasbourg. From 1565 he studied philosophy and later law in Tübingen . In 1570 he moved to France, where he continued to study law in Besançon, Dole, Paris and Orléans . In 1574 he received his doctorate in Basel . The following year he returned to Strasbourg and became Professor of Law at the Strasbourg Academy. He stayed there until the end of his life. His main works include the Fünff Secreta , reports on the financing of the Turkish war on behalf of Emperor Rudolf II . He also wrote on topics of civil law, Roman legal history, and feudal law. In retrospect, he is one of the most important so-called older cameraists. It is an early forerunner of statistical economics, as it was later continued with William Petty and David Ricardo .
