Georg Pauli (born June 8, 1867 in Dresden ; † May 18, 1949 in Demitz-Thumitz ) was a teacher and founder of the Lusatian Cyclist Association , which he founded in 1906 with members of the local cyclist's club. From 1906 to 1920 he was chairman of the Lausitz Cyclist Association, then honorary chairman.

In April 1889 he moved to the Erzgebirge for his first job as an assistant teacher in Deutschneudorf . Georg Pauli and Toni Hofman married in 1892 and, after working for a while as an assistant teacher at various Dresden schools, moved to Breitenau near Oederan at Easter 1894 . He lived and worked there for the next six years with a permanent teaching position.

In Oederan he represented the General Cyclists Union as consul. At Easter 1900 he switched to the third permanent teaching position that had become vacant in Demitz-Thumitz.

From 1901 Georg Pauli published the handbook of the cycling clubs of Saxony for the first time (later: Pauli's handbook of the cyclists and motorists of Saxony ). In the foreword he wrote in 1901: "This book contains all of Saxony's cycling clubs in alphabetical order, around 450 in number". In addition, he published in various daily newspapers and for the cyclist newspapers in Lusatia. He published travel reports and humorous cyclist literature. In 1905 Pauli set up a small print shop in Demitz-Thumitz, which he passed on to his youngest son in 1930.

At the age of 56, Georg Pauli retired in 1924 as a senior teacher at the elementary school and the trade school. According to his own statements, he then devoted himself more to his associations and honorary positions: on the board of the non-profit building association GmbH, as a conductor and honorary song master in the men's choir, in the cycling club, in the theater club, in the mountain club, in the rabbit breeders club, as a district director in the rabbit breeders association Bischofswerda-Kamenz, as a cashier in District teachers association Bischofswerda, as the entertainment board of the agricultural association and the shooting society, in the house owners association, in the volunteer fire brigade, in the gymnastics association, in the beekeeping association and others.

The Heimatverein Demitz-Thumitz decided to keep the grave of the Pauli family in memory of Georg Pauli in the Demitz cemetery forever, to remember that he not only co-founded the Lusatian Cyclist Association, but also numerous other associations in the region .
