Johann Georg Pfahler (born March 2, 1817 in Mergentheim , † March 9, 1889 in Ravensburg ) was a German Catholic priest and democratic politician.

Life

His father was a corporal . Between 1836 and 1841 he studied the Catholic religion in Tübingen and at the seminary in Rottenburg . He was ordained a priest in 1841. In Tettnang he was administrator of the Preceptorate Chaplaincy from 1842 to 1849. After that he was the Preceptor's Chaplain until 1851. At the same time he was also a teacher at the local Latin school between 1842 and 1851. Between 1851 and 1856 Pfahler was chaplain in Ellwangen and from 1856 to 1886 pastor in Erolzheim . He spent his last years in the nursing home “St. Josephus ”in Ravensburg.

Shortly after the beginning of the March Revolution , he appeared as a speaker at a popular assembly. Between October 1848 and 1850 he was the first chairman of the gymnastics community in Tettnang. From May 18, 1848 to June 18, 1849, Pfahler was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly and the Stuttgart Rump Parliament . He represented the constituency of Ravensburg. Pfahler belonged to the radical democratic faction Deutscher Hof . He was also a member of the Central March Association and the Catholic Club . In 1849 and 1850 he was also a member of the Württemberg state estates . In 1851 he was acquitted in criminal proceedings for his political activities.

He was the author of various historical and theological writings.
