The offensive player played a total of 238 league games for his club BC Augsburg in what was then the first-class soccer Oberliga Süd from 1945 to 1956, scoring 112 goals. Platzer is the BCA's record scorer in the Oberliga Süd and, together with Gerhard Kaufhold from Kickers Offenbach, is 14th in the all-time top scorer list in the south.

Career

societies

With the blue-whites from the Oberhausen district, BC Augsburg, Platzer belonged to the newly created Oberliga Süd in the first round after the Second World War in 1945/46. On October 13, 1945, representatives of the southern clubs met in the restaurant "Krone" in Fellbach and the southern German football association was founded. On November 4, the first season of the Oberliga Süd kicked off under the adventurous conditions of the post-war period. Platzer was one of the BCA's achievers from the beginning of the league era. He is led by 20 goals in the debut season and his club was eighth. Only the home game against champions VfB Stuttgart (1: 5) was lost, the 15 home games ended with a score of 21: 9 points. In the second game year 1946/47 a "mammoth season" was played with 20 clubs. Platzer increased his hit rate to 25 goals, but rose with the BCA as 17th with 30:46 points in the amateur league. The home successes against local rivals Schwaben Augsburg on June 1, 1947 (goal by Platzer) and on June 29 against champions 1. FC Nürnberg (3: 1) could not prevent this. Platzer immediately shot his club back into the league. The BCA won the championship in the regional league group south in 1947/48 (40 goals by Platzer), became Bavarian regional league champions with 4: 1 and 1: 1 against 1. FC Bamberg and finally won the promotion round against FC Rödelheim, SpVgg Feuerbach and Amicitia Viernheim with ten more Platzer hits. For the league returnee, the fast, powerful attacker who dominated the combined game scored 14 goals in 30 league appearances in 1948/49. But the whole lap was about relegation. The BCA finished the round with Ulm in 1846, tied with 22:38 points. Even Ernst Willimowski's six missions with three goals could not change that. The Platzer team won the relegation decision game in Frankfurt on May 29, 1-0 against Ulm (goalkeeper Toni Turek and defender Hans Eberle ) and thus continued to belong to the Oberliga Süd. In 1949/50 the BCA improved to 10th place, while Swabia Augsburg finished 11th with the same number of points. Ludwig Schlump , he formed a top-class offensive duo in the south with “Schorsch” Platzer for years, and with 17 goals made a major contribution. For Platzer and Schlump, however, the national cup games were the highlight of the season. On March 19, 1950, the BCA players formed the right wing of the winning selection of the Bavarian Football Association in the final against the Palatinate. 89,000 spectators followed the 2-0 final success of the BFV selection in the Stuttgart Neckar Stadium .

In the following round, 1950/51, the BCA landed in a division of 18 on the 16th place and descended together with Reutlingen, Singen and Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd division south. Platzer had scored 19 goals and the two home wins against VfL Neckarau (8: 2) and Schwaben Augsburg (5: 0) stood out in the round. Again, however, the immediate return to the league succeeded. As runner-up in the 2nd South League in 1951/52 - 24 goals by Georg Platzer - the BCA returned to the South Oberliga. From the 1952/53 season , Ulrich Biesinger's career began in the Oberliga Süd with the blue-whites of Ballspiel-Club Augsburg , alongside Georg Platzer (30-10). In total, the storm talent played 30 missions with 13 goals in his first round of the league. Since the newcomer from ASV Cham's 2nd League South, Ludwig Schuller , was also able to score 17 goals, the BCA scored 59 goals and finished in 10th place. With the BCA, Platzer could never compete for the top spots in the Oberliga Süd, which is why he never made it into the final round of the German championship .

With the game on April 29, 1956, a 0-0 draw at VfB Stuttgart, Platzer ended his eleven-year league career with 112 goals after a total of 238 compulsory league games.

Selection teams

The Augsburg record scorer was not accepted into the national soccer team under national coach Sepp Herberger. In representative games he was in the selection of southern Germany in action: On October 17, 1948 in a 1-1 in Nuremberg against northern Germany; on March 13, 1949 in Hanover against northern Germany (0: 1) and on March 18, 1951 in Hamburg again against northern Germany with a 4: 2 success of the southern selection.

With the state selection of Bavaria in 1950, he won the state cup. The states of the GDR had also participated and the West German teams were made up of the first-class contract players' camp. The Bavarian selection won the final against the Palatinate 2-0 on March 19 and was attacked by Platzer, Schlump, Horst Schade (2 goals), Max Appis and Hans Nöth .
