Georg Röbcke

Karl Louis Georg Röbcke (born August 7, 1863 in Lüchow ; † February 27, 1941 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German photographer .

Georg Röbcke came to Freiburg via Trient, Bozen, Colmar and Heidelberg in 1885, where he initially worked as an assistant to the photographer Christof Clare . On January 1, 1896, he took over his business and continued to run it under the name "Photographische Kunst- und Verlagsanstalt Georg Röbcke".

Röbcke also worked as a documentary photographer for the city of Freiburg and for the city collections in Freiburg. He documented the city of Freiburg in numerous recordings, recordings that today are of great source value after the destruction in World War II and in the post-war period.

His son Hermann, who had worked in his father's company since 1926, continued the business until 1959. The photographer's estate, his order books and glass plates are in the Freiburg City Archives , the glass plates from pictures taken by the Freiburg Cathedral are in the archive of the Freiburg Cathedral Building Association .
