Georg Seidl (politician)

Georg Seidl (born July 21, 1896 in Gaubitsch , Lower Austria ; † May 21, 1968 in Mistelbach , Lower Austria) was an Austrian politician ( CSP , later ÖVP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and high school , Seidl enrolled at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna , where he studied agricultural sciences, and in 1918 he joined the Catholic student union KaV Norica Vienna . Then he worked as a farmer .

politics

Seidl began his political career in 1929 when he was elected to the municipal council of his home town of Gaubitsch. Just one year later, in December 1930, Seidl entered the National Council as a member of the Christian Social Party (CSP) , to which he was to belong until May 1934. In 1936 Seidl was elected mayor of Gaubitsch; it remained so until the annexation of Austria in 1938.

In December 1945 Seidl was re-elected to the National Council, this time as a member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP); he was then eleven years, until June 1956, active as a member of the National Council.

Seidl was chairman of the district chamber of farmers in Laa an der Thaya in the Second Republic .
