Georg Theodor Schirrmacher

Georg Theodor Schirrmacher (* 1833 in Danzig ; † November 6, 1864 in Berlin ) was a German architect .

Schirrmacher passed the surveyor's examination in Gdansk in 1853 and studied at the Berlin Building Academy from 1854 or 1855 , and in 1855 he became a member of the Berlin Architects' Association . He completed his studies with the " Building Supervisor Exam " (1st state examination ) and in 1862 also passed the "Builder Examination" (2nd state examination). After taking a trip to Italy in the meantime, he got a job at the Royal Museums in Berlin in 1864 . Since he died at a young age, only one building can be assigned to him: his competition design for the Hamburger Kunsthalle , submitted together with Hermann von Hude in 1863, was carried out by 1866.

Schirrmacher also worked as a painter, 19 of his watercolors with Greek motifs were included in the collection of the National Gallery .
