Georg Vierthaler

Georg Vierthaler (born July 17, 1957 in Gesseltshausen / Upper Bavaria) is a German theater and opera manager.

biography

After graduating from high school and doing military service, Vierthaler studied business administration from 1978 to 1982. After completing his studies, he worked as administrative director at the Münchner Volkstheater until 1992, after which he was administrative director at the Landestheater Württemberg-Hohenzollern Tübingen for two years until 1994 .

From 1994 to 2003 Vierthaler was managing director of the German State Opera Berlin ; in addition, from 2001 to 2002 he was artistic director and managing director of the Theaters des Westens , Berlin.

After founding the Berlin Opera Foundation on January 1, 2004, Vierthaler was Managing Director of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin until 2008, and since 2004 he has also been Managing Director of the Berlin State Ballet . From 2004 to 2005 Vierthaler was also the coordinator of the board of the Berlin Opera Foundation, which corresponds to the current director general.

From 2008 to 2013 Vierthaler was Managing Director of the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt .

On August 1, 2013, he returned to the Berlin Opera Foundation as General Director , where he has continued to be Managing Director of the Berlin State Ballet in a double function since 2004.
