Georg Weich
Georg Weich (born October 24, 1920 in Amberg ; † April 25, 2015 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Soft attended elementary school and high school in Amberg. In the Second World War he was a lieutenant in the reserve and was taken prisoner of war . After the end of the war he participated in the reconstruction. He then did an apprenticeship in labor administration that he actually wanted to complete before the war, and was then employed there. Later he attended the social academy in Dortmund . In 1956 he became chairman and managing director of the district administration in Amberg at the trade union ÖTV , which he held until his retirement in 1983. In 1957 he joined the SPD. For this he sat on the Amberg city council from 1950 to 1996. In 1961 and 1965, he ran for the German Bundestag in the Amberg constituency , but was defeated by Heinrich Aigner ( CSU ), despite impressive results for the SPD. In 1966 he was a successful candidate for the Bavarian State Parliament , which he was a member of until 1974. In addition, he was an honorary social judge and worked in other functions.
