Georg Weidner

Georg Weidner (born January 14, 1914 in Groß -zimmer ; † unknown) was a German and later Austrian wrestler.

Life

Georg Weidner grew up in Groß -zimmer and joined the wrestling club there. He soon achieved his first successes at the regional level. He reached the top German class at the age of 22 when he was 3rd in the German featherweight championship in Mannheim in 1936 , Greco-Roman. Style, behind Eduard Sperling , Dortmund and Sebastian Hering , Neuaubing. He then became German champion, meanwhile starting for the KV 1895 Stuttgart , in 1938 in Breslau in the lightweight, freestyle, before Hering. In 1940 he was 3rd German master, Greco-Roman. Lightweight style and in 1940, 2nd German lightweight champion, freestyle, each behind Heinrich Nettesheim, Cologne.

In 1942 Weidner came to the so-called Ostmark ( Austria ) due to the war, settled in Salzburg and started as an Austrian in the 1948 Olympic Games in London . He took a good 4th place in the Greco-Roman. Style, featherweight, with wins over Safi Taha , Lebanon , Raymond Straßer, Luxembourg and losses to Mehmet Oktav , Turkey and Olle Anderberg , Sweden , who later won silver and gold.

1950 Weidner was German team champion in the season of AC Bad Reichenhall .
