Georg Wein (politician)

Georg Wein (born February 28, 1893 , † April 14, 1945 in Potsdam ) was a German civil servant , local politician and mayor .

Life

Georg Wein was born in 1893 during the German Empire .

In the year of the outbreak of the First World War , Wein began his professional career in the city service, initially as a city treasury assistant. At the time of the Weimar Republic and in the year of the height of German hyperinflation , the citizens of the city of Havelberg elected Wein as their mayor in 1923 .

After the seizure of power of the Nazis Georg wine came on November 1, 1933, the SS one in which he for the January 30, 1937 Sergeant was appointed. However , he did not join the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) until May 1, 1937. In the same year 1937 Wein was appointed mayor of the city of Lehrte , an office that he officially held until his death. During this time, however, in the middle of World War II , wine was seconded to the so-called “ Warthegau ” in Litzmannstadt (now Łódź ). On November 13, 1944, Wein acted as the war representative of the mayor of Pabianitz .

Georg Wein died during one of the Allied air raids on Berlin during his stay in Potsdam on April 14, 1945 by an aerial bomb .
