Georg Winter (* 1951 in Höchstädt an der Donau ) is a German local and state politician ( CSU ).

Private

After training as a farmer and obtaining a degree in administration, Winter worked as a manager in local government. Winter is a Roman Catholic, married and has two children.

Political career

Winter is a member of the constituency Augsburg-Land-Dillingen 704 and was chairman of the state budget and financial affairs committee in the Bavarian state parliament from 2008 to 2013.

From 1978 to 2009 Winter was City Councilor of Höchstädt and, from 1978 to 1991, its second mayor. He has been a district councilor in the Dillingen district since 1978 and was chairman of the CSU district parliamentary group from 1984 to 2010. From 1982 to 1990 Winter was a member of the District Assembly of Swabia. Winter has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 1990 . There he has been a member of the State Budget and Financial Affairs Committee since 1994 and chaired this committee from 2008 to 2013. Since 2005 he has been on the board of the CSU parliamentary group.

In 2013, Winter came under fire in the course of the relatives affair, when an employment contract became known, which he had to pay the state treasury in 2000 to work in the office with his then 13 and 14 year old sons. a. to maintain his computer. In the period from 2000 to 2012, both of them earned an average of 286 euros each. At the end of April 2013, as a result of the increasing public discussion, Winter resigned from the chairmanship of the State Budget and Financial Affairs Committee and repaid the wages that had flowed to his sons, including taxes and social security contributions, amounting to approx. 45,000 euros each to the Landtag Office . During a review, the Presidency of the State Parliament came to the conclusion that the employment had violated the Child Labor Protection Ordinance. The public prosecutor's office in Munich I exonerated Winter from any criminal allegations and declined an investigation against Winter. She also comes to the conclusion that the state parliament was adequately informed, since Winter had given the exact ages of his children from the start.
