George Brunner (composer)

George "Skip" Brunner (born August 24, 1951 in Philadelphia ) is an American composer , musician and record producer .

Brunner was composer in residence at the Elektronmusikstudion (ems) in Stockholm in 1996, 1998 and 2001 , and in 2001 at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan i Stockholm . In 2002 he was co-director of the first international festival for electroacoustic music in Istanbul, organized by Istanbul Bilgi University , for which he composed an interactive work for spoken text and sounds from the city of Istanbul.

In 2003 he composed the percussion trio Union for the Royal Irish Academy of Music . In the same year he was composer in residence at the Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB) and composed the electroacoustic work Within / Without for the Festival Synthesis 2003 Bourges . In 2004 he presented the piece Constellation 2: Fragile Light for soprano, flute, percussion and live electronics at the International Festival for Electroacoustic Music of Brooklyn College and the Festival for New Music of Istanbul Bilgi University . For Morris Long and his ensemble he composed Elixir of the Central Fire for solo timpanist, three percussionists and playback CD.

When SPARK Festival of the University of Minnesota his concert was Pianelan listed for piano, voice and flute. In 2009, Brunner composed the opera Delete for the Remarkable Theater Brigade , which premiered at Carnegie Hall . He has also produced electroacoustic works by composers such as Morton Subotnick , John Cage , Pauline Oliveros , Robert Dick , Charles Dodge , Jon Appleton , Noah Creshevsky , James Mobberley , Jean-Claude Risset , Lars Gunnar Bodin , Sten Hanson , Françoise Barriere and Christian Clozier . Brunner is the director of the music technology program at Brooklyn College, founder of the Brooklyn College Electroacoustic Music Ensemble and the biennial International Electroacoustic Music Festival at Brooklyn College.
