George Devone

George Ellis Devone (born February 21, 1959 ) is a former American basketball player who played in Germany  in the basketball Bundesliga as a professional.

career

The eight-foot-tall , indoor player from Clinton , North Carolina , studied and played between 1977 and 1981 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) in the NCAA . Devone achieved his best statistical values ​​within these four years in his final season 1980/81, when he averaged 10.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. In the  1981 NBA Draft , the Detroit Pistons secured the rights to DeVone in the fifth selection round.

Devone played as a professional for Bundesliga club SSV Hagen (1981/82 season), later for FC Bayern Munich , first in the 2nd basketball league , then between 1987 and 1989 in the basketball league . In 1989 he switched to TV Germania Trier, with whom he rose from the second to the first division and then played for the Moselaner in the top German division.

From 1993 to 1995 Devone played for Post-SV Bonn, the predecessor club of Telekom Baskets Bonn , in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Then he ran for the BG Koblenz in the second division.

In the 1998/99 season he briefly jumped in for Trier again in the Bundesliga and played four games there. In total, he scored 2068 points in the Bundesliga over the course of his career.

After his sporting career, Devone stayed in Trier, where he lived with his German wife and their children. At Trimmelter SV he was partly active as a trainer.
