George Don Sr.
George Don senior (* 1764 ; † 1814 ) was a Scottish botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Don ".
Live and act
George Don senior was married to Caroline Clementina Stuart. The two botanists George Don junior and David Don as well as Patrick Neill Don (1806–1876) and James Edward Smith Don (1807–1861) emerged from the marriage. He was a plant breeder with his own nursery in Doo Hillock near Forfar. From 1802 to 1806 he was chief gardener at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh . He conducted research on mosses and seed plants .
