George Gillett

George N. Gillett Jr. (born October 22, 1938 in Racine , Wisconsin ) is an American businessman and millionaire. He lives in Vail, Colorado with his wife and has four sons.

He earns his living selling media and meat products. He owns several television stations and newspapers, as well as meat production factories. He also owns summer and winter vacation facilities. He also owns a car dealership, a transport company, a landscaping company and sports and event organization (Gillett Entertainment Group).

Gillett is a sports enthusiast and owns several sports clubs. These include the NHL ice hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens and Liverpool FC . He bought this together with the American businessman Tom Hicks for around 200 million euros in February 2007. You also paid off the mountain of debt of around 100 million euros. Other sources report a purchase price of more than 700 million euros. Both are frowned upon by Liverpool fans. In April 2010, they commissioned the investment bank Barclays Capital to find a buyer for the club who is willing to invest an estimated 570 million euros.

In 1999, Gillett was voted one of the "100 Most Influential Skiers of All Time" in a ski magazine. In addition, in 2005 was inducted into the "Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame".
