George Kallis (composer)

George Kallis ( Greek Γιώργος Καλλής ; * 1974 in Nicosia ) is a Cypriot composer .

Life

George Kallis grew up on the island of Cyprus. During his youth he learned violin and piano. He won several music competitions and received a scholarship to successfully complete a bachelor's degree at the renowned Berklee College of Music . He then completed a master's degree at the equally renowned Royal College of Music in London .

After composing the music for a few short films, Kallis made his debut in 2006 with his music for the Reg Traviss- directed war drama The Enemy Inside - Joy Division with a feature film. Since then he has been responsible for the music of over 50 film and television productions from different countries, including England, India, Nigeria, Russia and the USA.

For the Cypriot contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 Kallis composed the song Tha'ne erotas (Original: Θα 'ναι έρωτας) for the Greek singer Marlain Angelidou in 1999 . In the final, the song was chosen with only two points on 22nd and thus the penultimate place.

Kallis is married and lived in London until 2012 . Since then he has lived and worked in Los Angeles .
