Marlain Angelidou

Marlain Angelidou ( Greek Μαρλέν Αγγελίδου , actually Marlen Angelidi Μαρλέν Αγγελίδη, * on September 6, 1978 in Athens ) is a Greek singer . She is a Greek, Cypriot and British citizen .

biography

Angelidou was born in 1978 in the Greek capital Athens. Her father is Cypriot , her mother is half- Cyprus-Greek and half- Scottish . When she was five, her family moved to Venezuela , then finally to Belgium and Cyprus , where she also lived as a teenager . Today she lives in her native city of Athens, while her mother and siblings live in Cyprus.

In 1998 she was seen with Alexandros Panayi and the title Fterougisma in the Cypriot preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest , but only achieved second place. A year later she won the preliminary round with the title Tha'ne erotas and was allowed to travel to Jerusalem for the international competition . Despite being a favorite, she was only able to place herself in 22nd place out of 23 participants.

In 1999 and 2000 she was mainly seen in musicals in London .

Hi-5 was formed in early 2003 , and Angelidou became a member of this girl band , which broke up in February 2005. Then she walked solo paths.

In 2007 it was announced that she would again take part in the preliminary round in Cyprus in 2008. With Rejection (Set Me Free) she reached third place, a long way behind Nicolas Metaxas (second place) and Evdokia Kadi (first place). She wrote the song Mr. Uptight One Night Stand for the 2009 preliminary round, in which she participated with this contribution.
