George Leverett

George Leverett (born February 10, 1883 in Oktibbeha County , Mississippi , † March 20, 1968 in Hemet , California ) was an American sound engineer who was nominated once for the Oscar for best special effects.

Life

Leverett began his career as a sound engineer in the Hollywood film industry in 1929 in the musical film Married in Hollywood, directed by Marcel Silver , with J. Harold Murray , Norma Terris and Walter Catlett in the leading roles. Until 1957 he was involved in the production of over ninety films.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1943 , he was with Fred Sersen and Roger Heman senior for the Oscar for Best Special Effects nomination, namely for the directed by Henry King incurred pirate movie The Black Swan (Black Swan, 1942) with Tyrone Power , Maureen O 'Hara and Laird Cregar .
