George Ostafi (2016)

George Ostafi-OST (born December 4, 1961 in Suceava , † January 30, 2019 in Slatina ) was a Romanian painter and graphic artist from Suceava. The abstract expressionist is known for his colorful oil paintings, which he has presented at international exhibitions since 1980. He won prizes a. a. in Tokyo , Lecce (Italy) and Liegnitz (Poland).

life and work

Ostafi-OST comes from a Romanian German artist family. He received his first lessons in his father's studio. He had a degree in engineering, but already trained in painting during the time of communist Romania through intensive self-study and developed his own expressive style. He painted with oil on canvas, preferring large areas. His works are abstract and not figurative . His compositions are explosive and dynamic, often forming a square.
Since 1991 Ostafi-OST has worked as a museologist at the Bukovina Museum Suceava.
