Lord George Augustus Frederick Paget , KCB (* 16th March 1818 ; † 30th June 1880 ) was a British politician and general , among others 1847-1857 Member of Parliament ( House of Commons ) was.

Life

Paget was the youngest of 18 children of Field Marshal Henry Paget, 1st Marquess of Anglesey , and the sixth child from his second marriage to Lady Charlotte Cadogan, daughter of Charles Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan . As the son of a marquess, he had the courtesy title "Lord" as an addition to his name . His siblings included his half-brothers Henry Paget, 2nd Marquess of Anglesey , William Paget , who was also a member of the House of Commons , Admiral Clarence Paget and General Alfred Paget , who were also members of the House of Commons.

On July 29, 1847 Paget was first member of the House ( House of Commons ) and was succeeded by his cousin Frederick Paget , the date the constituency Beaumaris District of boroughs represented in the House. He was a member of the House of Commons for nearly ten years until March 27, 1857. In the last years of his parliamentary membership, however, he was mainly used as an officer in the Crimean War and participated as a lieutenant colonel in the 4th Queen's Own Hussars in the Battle of the Alma on September 20, 1854 and the Battle of Balaklava on October 25, 1854, in which the Light Brigade attack took place. He later served as Brigadier General in the Light Cavalry Brigade and General in the British Army . He served as Colonel of the 4th Queen's Own Hussars and was knighted on June 2, 1869, Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath and thus knighted .

Paget was married twice. His first marriage on February 27, 1854, to his cousin Agnes Charlotte Paget, daughter of the House of Commons and diplomat Arthur Paget , had two sons. The older son Cecil Stratford Paget served as a captain in the 5th Battalion of the King's Royal Rifle Corps , while the younger son Charles Paget died at the age of nine. After his first wife died six days after the birth of the younger son on March 10, 1858, Paget married Louisa Elizabeth Heneage, daughter of an officer of the Life Guards, on February 6, 1861 in second marriage . However, this marriage remained childless.
