George Syran
George Syran (born July 21, 1928 in Youngstown , Ohio , † December 29, 2004 in Bergen County , New Jersey ) was an American pianist of modern jazz .
Life
At the age of fifteen, George Syran became a professional musician and played clarinet and tenor saxophone with Bobby Sherwood (1947–49), then studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory and the New York Manhattan School of Music in 1949/50 . In 1952 he was a pianist with Cannonball Adderley and from 1953 with Phil Woods , with whom he performed at the Nut Club in Greenwich Village . With Woods he was also involved in an album by trumpeter Jon Eardley . In the late 1950s he also had his own trio in New York. In 1981 he worked on an album by Dick Meldonian .
