Major General George Wootten

Major General Sir George Frederick Wootten KBE , CB , DSO & Bar , ED (born May 1, 1893 in Marrickville , New South Wales ; † March 31, 1970 in Concord , New South Wales), was a soldier in the Australian Army , civil servant , political officer Activist and lawyer .

Career

George Wootten was promoted to major general during World War II . General Douglas MacArthur described him as the best soldier in the Australian Army who had it in himself to reach the highest position ("The best soldier in the Australian Army who had it in him to reach the highest position").

Among other things, he was known for his sturdy stature: after giving up smoking in 1930, he gained up to 127 kilograms by 1941, although he was only 1.75 m tall.
