Georges Fillioud

Georges Fillioud (born July 7, 1929 in Lyon , † September 15, 2011 in Paris ) was a French journalist and politician of the Parti socialiste (PS) .

Life

Fillioud studied after school attendance law and graduated with a diploma. He then became a journalist at the radio station Europe 1 in 1956 and worked there until 1966. In 1964 he became a member of the Convention des institutions républicaines (CIR) founded by François Mitterrand .

In 1967 he began his political career when he was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly as a candidate for the Fédération de la gauche démocrate et socialiste (FDGS) , where he initially represented the constituency of Drôme III until 1968 . In addition, he was a member of the General Council of the Département Drôme between 1970 and 1982 and was re-elected as a member of the National Assembly in March 1973, in which he again represented the constituency of Drôme III until July 1981 . After the PS party congress in Épinay in 1971, he became the party's propaganda officer and as such was Mitterrand's press spokesman in 1974 when he ran for the presidency . In 1977 he also became mayor of Romans-sur-Isère and held this office until 1983.

After the electoral victory of the Socialist Party and the election of Mitterrand as President of France , Fillioud was appointed Minister of Communications in Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy's first cabinet in May 1981 . In March 1983, as part of the formation of the third Mauroy cabinet, he was appointed State Secretary to the Prime Minister with responsibility for communications technology and held this position in the cabinet of Mauroy's successor Laurent Fabius until March 1986. He was also a member of the Supervisory Board of ARTE France for a while .

Between 1990 and his transfer into the retirement 1994 he became the president of the national de l'Audiovisuel (INA) Institute , a public company that created the first digital archive of Europe. He was also a member of the board of directors of the news and press agency Agence France-Presse from 1993 to 1996 .

Fillioud, who married the actress Danièle Évenou in 1996 , was President of the ARTE General Assembly from 1999 to 2002 .
