Georges Gasté , actually Constant Georges Gasté , (born August 30, 1869 in Paris , † 1910 in Madurai , British India ) was a French painter.

Life

Gasté was a son of the art dealer Henri Gasté (1845–1871); his grandfather was the art dealer Pierre Gasté (1820–1884). Gasté was educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. a. Alexandre Cabanel and Raphaël Collin . He was enthusiastic about orientalism from an early age .

He gained inspiration from his regular study trips, which he made from 1892 to and through North Africa to Palestine . On his last trip, which took him to South India, he fell ill and died in Madurai when he was about 41 years old.
