Raphaël Collin
Louis-Joseph-Raphaël Collin (born June 17, 1850 in Paris , † October 21, 1916 in Brionne , Département Eure ) was a French painter and illustrator .
Life
Raphaël Collin studied at the art school in Saint-Louis , then went to Verdun , where he continued to study at the private school of the painter Jules Bastien-Lepage . Back in Paris he worked as an assistant to the painter William Adolphe Bouguereau . In 1898, Collin was appointed professor at the École des Beaux-Arts . In 1909 he became a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts . Among his students were Paula Modersohn-Becker , Theodor Hörmann , Fritz Klein , the Japanese Kuroda Seiki , Kume Keiichirō and Okada Saburōsuke .
