Georges Millardet
Georges Millardet (born October 15, 1876 in Bordeaux , † September 19, 1953 in Paris ) was a French Romance philologist , Occitanist and dialectologist.
life and work
Millardet studied in Bordeaux as a pupil of Édouard Bourciez and in 1902 passed the Agrégation de grammaire. He was a high school teacher first. In 1910 he completed his habilitation in Paris with the two theses Étude de dialectologie landaise (published in 2 volumes ud T. Petit atlas linguistique d'une région des Landes. Contribution à la dialectologie gasconne , Toulouse 1910, and Études de dialectologie landaise Le développement des phonèmes additionnels , Toulouse 1910, New York 1971), and (Ed.) Recueil de textes des anciens dialectes landais (Paris 1910). Millardet taught from 1911 at the University of Montpellier , from 1933 to 1947 at the Sorbonne .
