Georges Posener

Henri Georges Posener (born September 12, 1906 in Paris , † May 15, 1988 in Massy ) was a French Egyptologist .

From 1945 to 1978, Poznan was Directeur d'Études at the École pratique des hautes études , IVe section. In 1961 he became a professor at the Collège de France and dealt primarily with the literature and papyri of ancient Egypt .

In 1962 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences . In 1969 Posener became a member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres , in 1975 a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and 1986 of the British Academy .
