Georges Van Der Meirsch

Georges Van Der Meirsch (born December 14, 1918 in Zingem ; † January 5, 1970 ibid) was a Belgian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Van Der Meirsch won the Belgian championship in cyclo- cross racing from 1945 to 1947, as well as 1949 and 1951. At the UCI World Championships in 1951 in the Netherlands , he finished 6th in the victory of Roger Rondeaux , making him the best Belgian driver. In 1950 he finished 8th. Van Der Meirsch almost exclusively competed in cross-country races and otherwise lived very secluded in his home town. In 1951 he won the World Cup in Luxembourg .
