Georgi Takev

Georgi Takev (* 1952 , grew up in Plovdiv , Bulgaria ) is a contemporary painter .

Life

Georgi Takev graduated with a degree in interior design. For political reasons he could only study as a guest student at the Art Academy in Sofia . In 1979 he had his first solo exhibition in Plovdiv and emigrated to Vienna that same year .

In 1984 he received Austrian citizenship and was accepted into the Vienna Künstlerhaus . In 1986 he came to Düsseldorf. In 1996 he became a lecturer at the Kronberg painting school. In addition to his free art, the artist's works have appeared in films, as a series of advertisements in Stern and Der Spiegel and on book covers. He also made a name for himself as a copyist. B. with the copy made in the Frankfurt Städel of the Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Tischbein painting Goethe in the Roman Campagna , which is now exhibited in the Casa di Goethe in Rome . From 2003 to 2006 Georgi Takev reconstructed the monumental Jörg Ratgeb wall painting (16th century) "The Adoration of the Three Kings" in the Carmelite monastery in Frankfurt am Main .

Lately Takev has primarily been concerned with the subject of "unfolding" (folds of fabrics, ribbons and paper in paintings and sculptures). Surrealist paintings, series on the subject of “dance”, “beach” and numerous still lifes and portraits are known from earlier years . Other motifs are landscapes and cityscapes.

Georgi Takev lives and works in Kronberg im Taunus .
