Georgi and the butterflies (Georgi and the Butterflies) is a documentary from the year 2004 . It tells the story of a man and his dream, an ostrich farm.

action

Dr. Georgi Lulchev - psychiatrist, neurologist, Chinese medicine doctor, administrator, amateur cook, entrepreneur and director of a sanatorium for mentally ill men - dreams of setting up a farm where his patients can raise snails, ostriches, pheasants and silkworms, and make soybean products. A monastery from the 16th century, in Podgumer, 20 kilometers from Sofia , houses his institution. As in the rest of the country, where 80% of the population lives in poverty, every day in the mental hospital is a struggle for survival. The budget is miserable. No other help in sight. That is why Georgi is tirelessly busy with setting up companies to ensure the subsistence of his institution. His bizarre business ideas fail, but that doesn't detract from his boundless enthusiasm.
