Georgie Lamon

Georgie Lamon (born November 11, 1934 in Lens VS , Switzerland ; † January 15, 2016 in Ouagadougou , Burkina Faso ) was a Swiss manager, author and politician ( SP ).

Life

Georgie Lamon came from a family with eight children. He studied first in France, later curative education in Friborg . He headed the Valais section of the Swiss Association for the Mentally Handicapped (ASA) and was committed to the professional integration of the disabled until his retirement in 1997 ( Office romand d'intégration professionnelle pour handicapés , ORIPH , later ORIF ).

In the 1980s he was chairman of the SP in Sierre and responsible for public relations and the SP's member magazine in Valais. From 1989 to 2001 he was a member of the Valais Grand Council , the canton's legislative authority. Lamon was also chairman of the Friends of his hometown Lens, VS , on which he published numerous papers.

Since the early 1990s, he has been involved in a project aimed at literacy and education for children in Burkina Faso, West Africa, where he and Jean-Noël Rey fell victim to an Islamist terrorist attack on January 15, 2016 in Ouagadougou, along with other victims .

Georgie Lamon was married to Marie-Hélène († 2005); the marriage has two children.
