Georgine Gaisl

Georgine Gaisl (born May 30, 1927 in Czechoslovakia ; † July 1, 2018 in Graz ) was an Austrian sports doctor and university professor .

Life

Gaisl studied medicine , between February 1972 and the end of May 1973 she worked at the Institute for Physical Education at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz as a research assistant and later as a university assistant, professor and head of the department of biometrics and physiology in sport. Her doctoral thesis entitled "The importance of stress acidosis behavior for assessing the state of training and for optimizing athletic training" was accepted in 1979, and in July 1984 she completed her habilitation . At the end of 1992 Gaisl retired.

Gaisl's scientific work focused on medical aspects of competitive sport, performance diagnostics, physical stress in children and adolescents, the Conconi test and stress in sport and in the work environment. According to the obituary of the University of Graz, Gaisl, who has numerous scientific contacts around the world, contributed significantly to the establishment of "an internationally renowned focus for non-invasive performance diagnostics" at the university.
