Georgs Kerlins

Georgs Kerlins (* 1973 ) is an officer in the Latvian armed forces with the rank of brigadier general . Since 2017 he has been one of the two Deputy Chiefs of Staff of the Latvian National Armed Forces .

Life

In 1991 Georgs Kerlins graduated from a sports boarding school in Riga .

Military career

In 1993, Kerlins joined the rebuilding armed forces of his home country as a cadet. After completing his officer training, he initially served in various posts in the National Guard and the land forces .

From 2003 to 2004 he attended a staff officer course at the Baltic Defense College in Tartu ( Estonia ). Since July 2008 he has been a lecturer there himself. With the rank of lieutenant colonel , he was appointed commander of the Latvian Military Academy in 2015. In this post, which he held until September 8, 2017, he was promoted to colonel . After moving to the post of Deputy Chief of Staff, he was promoted to Brigadier General on November 7, 2018.
